WORKSHOP SUF – SMART UNIVERSITY FORUM A FIRENZE IL 7 MAGGIO

Smart University Forum (SUF) is a current initiative aiming at becoming an international reference and opportunity to meet, exchange experiences and discuss academic developments towards open, smart and thriving universities as important actors of Society evolution. SUF aims purposely at bringing together national and international leaders, senior university staff, noted researchers and strategists, together with key supporters, university partners and beneficiaries.
University smartness implies the structural enhancement of University capabilities needed to pursue such objectives. That includes also proper use of ICT-based tools, systems and methodologies to support the enhancement of own knowledge and education processes. At the same time prospected evolution of smart cities is clearly targeting the diffuse deployment and access of new smart basic systems and services.
Smart University is also expected to become one of the key actors of innovation towards Smart City. Such an innovation can be virtuously pursued through joint ventures between Universities and Cities, which can support a new local development and the associated economic and cultural growth.
Initiatives for joint ventures of Universities, between each other as well as with the corresponding cities, are to be promoted to ground the prospected glo-cal development approach roadmap.
Particular attention will be given to ways to include Universities from developing countries to widen the above vision beyond Europe’s boundaries.
